Benefits Of Hiring A Second Photographer

With a little bit of research, you’ll find wedding photography services that do and don’t include a second photographer. In most cases, it’s seen as a great value-added into wedding packages, because theoretically, you’ll get more photos if there are 2 people with a camera.

And yes, that may be true. But there are also other benefits that in my opinion are on par, if not outweigh, the benefit of having more photos.

Read on to see how these benefits have more to do with the impact on your timeline and the overall experience of your day.

Getting Ready Photos

If you’re getting ready separately, part of the exciting part of getting your photos back is that you each get to see how the other started their day.

It’s entirely possible to have one photographer capture both of you as you get ready. You may have to adjust your timing a bit so that your photographer can capture both.

However, with 2 photographers, you both can get ready (roughly) at the same time.

Alternative Angles

If you're feeling a bit anxious about having your photo taken, this will help ease your nerves!

By having 2 photographers, you can quickly capture alternate angles of the same location + pose. This means we don’t have to spend as much time in the same spot, and makes it easier to avoid the bigger crowds if we go to a popular location.

Multiple Locations

While not an obvious timesaver, it is if you have your heart set on going to a couple of locations or exploring many parts of a big property.

Since we can capture multiple angles between the two of us in a fairly short + efficient time, we can explore without the stress of feeling rushed or behind schedule.

Cocktail hour

Similar to how 2 photographers can help capture you getting ready at the same time, if your timeline has wedding photos + cocktail hour scheduled for the same time, your photographers can divide and conquer–one photographer captures your couple's photos while the other captures your guests at cocktail hour.

Dinner company for your photographer

While this is a nice to have, the real benefit is that this gives your photographers is the ability to tag team eating AND photographing your reception/celebratory meal/evening activities. Plan your reception timeline exactly how you want it, and the tag teaming will allow your photographers to never miss a moment.

Looking for a wedding photographer?

I keep it easy for you by including a second photographer with all my small wedding packages + adventure elopement packages. And I am one of the lucky few that gets to work with her hubby! Dennis brings good vibes, a calming presence when the excited nerves start to kick in, and is an amazing photographer.
