Steveston Engagement Session

couple during their steveston engagement session

Access to the water, a cute village and amazing summer sunsets are just a few of the perks Melina and Billy enjoy while living in the iconic Steveston neighbourhood in Richmond. And since they are leaving their home and getting married in Greece, what better way to celebrate where they live than going to their favourite spots for their engagement session.

Nerves were a bit high at the beginning of the session, which is only fair considering Billy’s only other experience in front of a camera was a fireman-calendar-esque type shoot with his coworkers. But going to locations they both love and frequent on a regular basis helped ease those nerves and allowed their true selves to shine.

As we hit up their favourite dock, just a short walk from their place, we talked about the benefits and challenges of planning a destination wedding. In Greece, it’s all about who you know. With such a large family, they had no shortage of recommended wedding vendors from family, and friends of family — plus, knowing who to listen to can be stressful.

But even with all the challenges of planning a wedding from afar, I know they are both really looking forward to being in Greece, surrounded by their loved ones.

Luckily, we reached their favourite bench in Garry Point in time to enjoy the last rays of sunlight. And I’m happy that I was able to give them a small reprieve from all the wedding planning to focus on each other, their love and this amazing next step in their lives together.
